Dani and Phil met at work, fell in love … and decided to tie the knot here at The Old Barn. They told us about their big day.

Why did you choose The Old Barn?

We loved the conservatory with all the grape vines, how beautiful every room looked even without decorations – and of course the dodgems.

Was it important to you that it is a ‘DIY’ venue?

Yes, as we could really make it our own and put our own personalities into it. Plus, we didn’t have a large budget.

What sort of look were you aiming for?

We had a rustic theme with a relaxed but fun atmosphere.

What did you wear?

Daniela – an ivory satin wedding dress with pearls and a long vail.

Phillip – a sky blue checkered suit with braces and a sage green bow tie.

Tell us about the actual ceremony …

We had a celebrant perform our ceremony, so it was a little bit different but so amazing. Ours was a sand and a candle ceremony that everyone loved and our celebrant read out our love story and then our more personal vows.

What about your food and drink?

We had a selection of cocktails for welcome drinks with some canapés. For the wedding breakfast we had a hog roast with all the sides and some white wine and rose. Then in the evening we had pasties and kebabs. Also we had a sweet table and of course the wedding cake.

What about entertainment and music?

We had the dodgems for entertainment and booked a DJ for the music.

What was the best part of the day for you?

We can’t choose – the whole day was perfect and special to us.

What did your guests think of the dodgems?

They loved them! We kept them a secret from everyone so the look on their faces when they entered the dodgems room was amazing!

Are you glad you had the day you did?

Yes! We wouldn’t change anything about it!

Did you feel well taken care of by The Old Barn team?

We were very well cared for – they were so friendly and helpful.
